Florida Jets 2016
Florida. All FTE events, Florida Jets, Top Gun and 12 O’Clock High, are flown from this custom 700 foot long by 50 foot wide blacktop runway which includes a Bahia Grass runway adjacent to the hard surface.
The ‘Over Fly’ area is huge, and the surrounding area is all grass which helps with a wheels up emergency landing. Pilots face North while flying so that the sun is never in their face. The site offers plenty of room for tents and vehicles.
Florida Jets is a ‘Jet Together’, not a competition, although there are numerous awards given for ‘Best Of’ categories. The event averages 170 pilots and the same number of crew members, along with 20 or so hobby related vendors. Florida Jets starts Wednesday, finishes Saturday.
All day Tuesday is used for setting up only, pilots are welcome to stage their tents and trailers. The ‘Sign-in’ booth for pilots opens at 8:30 Wednesday morning, stays open til 2pm. Then, 9 til 4 Thursday and Friday and 9 til Noon Saturday. Flying takes place from 9am until 6pm or about Dark each day.
